WE GROW GREAT PEOPLE

We invest in developing our people and harnessing their strengths so our team can reach its full potential. We are proud to promote talent from within, offering great progression opportunities that come with training to match. We create training and development opportunities for all our team, from customer service, plant knowledge and first aid training to expanding skills in an apprenticeship or through leadership training.

Here's just a few examples:

  • We've put over 100 members of our team through our very own management training programme, 'GREAT BY NATURE'.

  • We've used our Apprenticeship Levy to fund catering, finance and admin apprenticeships across our Centres.

  • Matt, started with us as our Grass Hoppers Manager at Tong, then became the Assistant Centre Management at Tong before progressing to Centre Manager at our Tingley store.

  • Caroline has progressed from a Plants Assistant to a key member of our Visual Merchandising team

  • Our team have access to over 300 online courses to upskill themselves in areas beyond their current role

CREATING A GREAT CULTURE

What we do goes far beyond profits, we work hard to create an environment where everyone can flourish and be their full self at work. We care passionately about our people and our culture is driven by listening, support and empowerment.

We deliver regular monthly themed engagement events across our sites, focused on wellbeing, inclusion and appreciation. These included simple but meaningful actions such as “lunch on us” days, free flu jabs, dress-down days, menopause awareness activities, mental health initiatives and celebrating PRIDE. These moments helped teams feel seen and supported, and created regular opportunities to pause, connect and talk openly about topics that matter.

ANNUAL AWARDS

Each year we celebrate our Values where our management team select Values Champions from a full year of outstanding monthly winners who all demonstrate the values at the heart of our business.

Last year, our GREAT team made 611 values nominations, recognising colleagues who demonstrated our GREAT values in their day-to-day work. From these, 51 colleagues were shortlisted and 10 winners selected. If you're thinking of joining our team, we want you to be able to demonstrate these Values, to help continue to create a great culture within our centres.
