Whether it’s providing hands-on volunteer work, or rallying our customers behind vital local causes, our charity initiatives are powered by one extraordinary force - our 550-member team, who have reached some incredible charitable milestones.
The Kindness Pot: Grassroots giving
We believe that the best charitable giving comes right from the heart of the community, which is why we created The Kindness Pot, a dedicated community fund built around a simple principle: listening to our people.
Each year, we give our staff the opportunity to nominate local causes, charities, schools and community groups that are close to their hearts. Since its launch, The Kindness Pot has distributed more than £12,500 in funding and resources, helping to make a difference in communities across Yorkshire.
Outside of funding, The Kindness Pot has also shared materials such as seeds, bulbs, soil and plants to local primary schools, community gardens and nurseries, as well as hands-on volunteer power, sending our staff into the local community to support planting days, garden cleanups and local makeover projects.
Steph Harrison, Head of People, explains: “We’ve listened to our team a lot over the years, because they know their local communities best. We wanted to find a sustainable way of helping our communities, and give back in the right ways, with the right impact, and The Kindness Pot has allowed us to do exactly that.”
£100,000 raised for Martin House Children’s Hospice
Beyond local community grants, we’re proud to stand side-by-side with Martin House Children’s Hospice as an official charity partner.
Martin House Children’s Hospice provides crucial compassionate care and support to children and young people with life-limiting conditions across Yorkshire - and thanks to the boundless generosity of our customers and staff, we have officially smashed our £75,000 goal, donating over £100,000 to the charity so far.
